Calling all beauty junkies, there’s a new pink eye trend on the scene! However, this time I’m talking about coloured eye shadow, not Agyness Deyn who had conjunctivits last fashion week and wore a patch to cover it up so that she could still walk the runways. Back from the 80′s, fuschia shadow has already been spotted at the Paul Costelloe show, Topshop Unique, and both Nars and Lancôme have featured grenadines in their 2009 spring colour collections. I find pink eyes quite captivating if blended well and paired with black liner, but the look certainly isn’t for everyone. Do you think you’d ever buy hot pink eye shadow?

Valentines Day funky Pink Makeup
Get ready for your Valentines Day date and create this effortless smokey eyes makeup – wrap your eyes in gorgeous shades of pink, violet and purple for the perfect sultry Valentines Day look.
Face
Before applying the foundation use a primer. The primer will assure longer lasting makeup and smooth coverage.
Then apply your foundation as you normally would to even out skin tone and cover any blemishes you may have. Set it with finishing powder.

Eyes Makeup
Pack onto your upper eyelid – from lash line to crease – a shimmery violet eyeshadow, blending around the corners and into the socket line.
Use a deep purple on the outer corners of your eyes and gently blending into and along the crease.
To give more depth to the eyes, create contrast by applying electric pink eye shadow in the middle of the upper lid and blend carefully.
Take the violet and apply it to the lower lash line. Emphasize lashes by curling them first, then apply two coats of black mascara concentrating in the middle and outer corners using upward strokes.
If you want more drama apply a pair of false lashes.

Cheeks & Lips
Use a subtle lilac-pink blush on the apples of the cheeks, then sweep on some shimmery highlighter right on your cheek bones and blend these two together.
Since the eyes are the main focus of this look, lips have to be soft – apply just a drop of clear lip gloss to the lips.

Makeup Trend 2009 Christian Dior and Gucci Fashion Shows
Pat McGrath know as the “Queen of the Makeup” for the Christian Dior ready-to-wear fashion show re-invented the famous “couture faces” from 2004, with extremely pronounced eye.
In its recent version, the concept of the look maintains modern accents. “The whole makeup is glowy, natural, fresh” with smokey eyes, but not as dark as in the previous season; cheeks sculpted with blush for a bronzed effect and lips in brown-ish, chocolaty hues. Strong colors, just as at the Gucci fashion show, where Pat rethought the smokey eyes concept, using a turquoise shade, emphasizing it with a lavish layer of eyeliner and black mascara.
Iridescent makeup has been gaining adherents for a couple of seasons now, but leave it to Pat McGrath to take metallic eyes to the max at Gucci’s Spring 2009 show. In fact, the makeup consolidates the message that the House of Gucci wanted to express through the masculine outfits and bright colors.
“Generally in my work, I’m highly influenced by fabrics, colors used in collections, by the faces of the models and the personality of the designer” says Pat. etallic hues used also on the lips.
