Danish design company Diffus has come up with an LED-equipped Climate Dress that responds to the concentration of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere by glowing accordingly.the dress is laced with hundreds of tiny LEDs that respond to carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Powered by an Arduino Lilypad microprocessor and a carbon dioxide detector, the haute-tech frock uses conductive embroidery to transmit information to the hand-stitched lights, resulting in patterns that range from slow pulses to rapid flashes depending on the concentration of the greenhouse gas. This incredibly designed  dress will react to the air quality and pollution levels by pulsating hundreds of LED lights. While this concept may not be practical enough for mass production, we feel that environmentally conscious fashion like this is certainly progress in the right direction for the creative world.

LED light up eyelashes are the new craze amongst Asian women, claiming that they accentuate their eyes and make them look bigger. They are made with built in censors that enable them to track the motion of your pupils so you can turn them off with a distinct tilt of the head. The Korean designer  Soomi Park has designed these strangely fascinating LED lashes. The fun part is that the lashes are hooked up to a tilt sensor so when you tilt your head in specific directions the lashes light up. The LED Eyelashes have a mercury sensor that controls the light on the face. When wearing the LED eyelashes, you look embellished as if you were wearing a piece of fashion jewelry.

The Orb transforms from a ring with a simple twist to become a Bluetooth headset capable of hands-free calling. The Orb was born as a collaboration between Hybra Advance Technology Inc. and AbsolutelyNew Inc. A Deluxe edition also features a Flexible Organic Light Emitting Device (FOLED) screen to display caller ID, calendar reminders, and voice-to-text information for communication without taking the ring off the finger. To have the Orb looking like a fashion accessory for your ear, NXT technology has been utilized for bone conduction so you don’t have to stuff anything into your ear canals. Bluetooth is class 2 with a range of 30ft. The base model Orb is scheduled to launch in January 2010 carrying a suggested retail price of USD$129, while the Deluxe edition is due in April 2010 with a price of USD$175. The Limited edition designer models are also due in April 2010 with their price based on the value of the gemstones incorporated into the device.

This attractive watch is designed by Michael Mathis and Gerda Hopfgartner, the StressWatch is worn on the wrist and monitors heart rate and body temperature in real time. Measurements are taken from the lower part of the watch’s bracelet and displayed on the watch face in recognizable patterns, colors and a bar chart across the top of the watch. Data is then translated into relaxation guidelines and displayed in real time. The black bar graph at the bottom of the watch is the stress line, and if the colors on the watch face are cool greens and blues, you’re pretty laid back. If they turn into hot pink, red or orange, look out. The readings are taken via the lower part of the bracelet and the data gets transformed to guidelines for relaxation.

American industrial designers fuseproject have launched updated versions of their Jawbone Bluetooth headset for manufacturer Aliph. Bluetooth headsets have now an elegant aspect, are light and extremely portable to carry on. The Jawbone PRIME Earcandy Bluetooth Headset is made with NoiseAssassin technology which delivers better noise elimination performance, an integrated digital approach to wind reduction, and a fail-safe solution if the Voice Activity Sensor (VAS) does not touch the user’s face. It is so tiny and weighs only 10 gms. The size measures 5.5 x 2.5 x 1.5cms.

HP and Vivenne Tam did something a bit out of the box and introduce the Vivienne Tam designed Digital Clutch Laptop. The special edition laptop represents the first time a major high end designer and computer company joined forces to not only present a notebook that is stylish but also super portable. HP’s 8.9-inch 2133 Mini-Note is apparently a raging success, so it makes sense that the company would want to expand the line, and it looks like we might be getting a preview of what’s in store with the Digital Clutch, a bright red 10-inch netbook.
